How Are Manifold Gauge Service Hoses Colored

Earlier servicing a vehicle, ostend system refrigerant blazon.  Cross contamination of refrigerants can cause damage to A/C system, service tools and equipment.

General MANIFOLD INFORMATION:

The right (ruby-red) side of the manifold is the high side and the red gauge is the high pressure gauge.  The left (bluish) side of the manifold is the low side and the bluish gauge is the vacuum/pressure level guess.  Separate passages from the low and high side fittings to their respective gauges let one to check pressure and vacuum readings.  The manifold body connects all iii fittings to each other by internal passages.

Note: If gauges do non read 0 psi, remove gauge face and arrange calibration screw to 0 psi.

Caution: Never open the high side valve on manifold gauge set when the A/C Organisation is operating.

SYSTEM Functioning:

Service couplers must exist connected to a refrigerant hose and the refrigerant hose must exist connected to a manifold gauge set with both depression and high side valves in the airtight position before connecting the couplers to an A/C System.

  1. Close all valves on the manual service couplers and manifold guess ready. Connect the loftier side coupler to the loftier side port and connect the low side coupler to the low side port.
  2. Start the vehicle. Turn on the A/C arrangement, and let it run until estimate readings stabilize.
  3. If the pressure shown on the gauges differ from the manufacturer's specs, determine the problem and brand necessary repairs.

SYSTEM EVACUATION:

  1. Recover all refrigerant from the organization. DO NOT VENT REFRIGERANT TO THE Temper, USE Advisable RECOVERY EQUIPMENT.
  2. Connect the Bluish hose to the low side service port. Connect the Cherry-red hose to the high side service port.  Connect the YELLOW hose to a vacuum pump.
  3. Open up the Loftier and LOW manifold valves using the Red and Blue mitt valves and start the pump.
  4. Afterward evacuating the organisation according to the manufacturer'southward specs, shut both valves and plough off the vacuum pump. Disconnect the Yellowish charging hose from the vacuum pump and connect it to the appropriate refrigerant container.
  5. Afterwards all connections have been made, the refrigerant tin can be added through the low side per manufacturer'due south specifications.

CHARGING AN EMPTY SYSTEM:

  1. Vehicle engine and the A/C organization must both be off.
  2. Brand certain that the dispensing valve on the refrigerant source is in the closed position.
  3. Make certain that both the loftier force per unit area and the low force per unit area valves are in their closed position.
  4. Connect both loftier and low couplers to the A/C system's respective service ports. After connecting the couplers, open them by turning the knob on the height of them clockwise until they stop.
  5. Open valve on the refrigerant source.
  6. Open the depression side valve on the manifold gauge prepare.
  7. Charge system until gauges read over 50 pounds of pressure.
  8. Shut low side valve on the manifold judge fix.
  9. Plow off Loftier Side and Depression Side valves on the manifold gauge set.
  10. Go to footstep # 4 in Charging an A/C System that is low on Refrigerant (below)

CHARGING AN A/C System THAT IS LOW:

  1. Make sure that the dispensing valve on the refrigerant source is closed.
  2. Make certain that both the high pressure and the depression pressure valves are closed.
  3. Connect both couplers to the system'south service ports. Afterwards, open up them by turning the knob on the top of the coupler until it stops.
  4. Outset the vehicle. Ensure adequate air flow through the front of the vehicle to avoid overheating.
  5. Turn on the A/C and set controls for MAX COOL and loftier fan.
  6. Open up the dispensing valve on the refrigerant source. (Go on the refrigerant source upright at all times so that refrigerant can only enter the hoses equally a gas.)  To brainstorm adding refrigerant (with organisation running) open the Bluish low side valve.  Allow the gas to flow into the organisation until the desired amount has been added or until the source container is empty.  Getting the required refrigerant corporeality into the system may take several minutes.
  7. When y'all take charged the organization to manufacturer's specs, close the manifold's bluish valve. Allow the compressor run and cheque the gauge readings to exist sure the arrangement is operating properly.  If not, repair the organisation equally required past manufacturer's service transmission.
  8. To disconnect the manifold when the system is filled and operating properly, shut the BLUE (low side) and RED (high side) hand valves on the manifold.
  9. To disconnect the manual coupler, plough the knob on information technology until finger tight. Slide the coupler sleeve up, releasing the coupler from the vehicle'south service port.
  10. Supplant protective caps on vehicle's service fittings.
